Long Beach Basket Brigade

Basket Brigade 2020 Update
Greetings,
The COVID pandemic has had an overwhelming impact on each of our lives, especially those who are less fortunate within our community. This pandemic has created numerous challenges for the Basket Brigade. Given the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and health guidelines, we are unable to host our Basket Assembly Event as we have done in years past.
Instead of our annual basket assembly and delivery this year, we will be purchasing grocery gift cards and distributing these to families at the Carmelitos Housing Community. Directly delivering to families eliminates the need for assembly and delivery volunteers. Each family will receive a grocery gift card and we will coordinate with the Housing Community to distribute those Thanksgiving gift cards. At this time all of the grocery gift cards have been assigned to families.
Since 2005, we’ve done our best to feed the many in need within our community during Thanksgiving. This community has championed the Long Beach Basket Brigade. We cannot thank you enough for all of your support, fundraising, volunteer efforts and dedication. They have meant so much to us, as well as to the Long Beach Community. Your impact has been felt by thousands all over the city every Thanksgiving. The Basket Brigade would not be possible without you. We appreciate each of you.
We are hopeful that next year we can resume our Basket Assembly Event as we have normally hosted it in previous years; the Saturday before Thanksgiving. To follow along with this year’s updates and to learn how you can help impact local families this Thanksgiving, please follow us on Instagram at @lbbasketbrigade and on Facebook at Long Beach Basket Brigade.
With great gratitude,
The Long Beach Basket Brigade
